Buildings in Damascus damaged following Israeli air strikes

Residential buildings and the Citadel of Damascus, a UNESCO World Heritage site, were damaged in the Israeli air raids that struck the Syrian capital Damascus in the early hours of Sunday. Up to 15 people, including civilians, were killed following the overnight attack. The London-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights alleged that the missiles targeted positions where Iranian-backed armed groups and the Lebanese Hezbollah movement are stationed in Damascus. For almost a decade, Israel has been carrying out air strikes in Syria. The bombing on Sunday was the "deadliest Israeli attack in the Syrian capital" so far, the SOHR reported.
