Elderly Turkish man donates his Umrah pilgrimage savings to earthquake victims

Mehmet Cakirhan, a 74-year-old Turkish man, donated money he had put aside to go on the Umrah pilgrimage to Mecca to the Red Crescent in order to support victims of the earthquake that hit the region last Monday.

More than 35,000 people have died as a result of the deadly earthquakes that struck Turkey and Syria. Thousands of others have been injured and are in need of medical and financial aid.
